So basically I forgot about applying for housing back in November and didn’t end up submitting my contract and the deposit until November 10th… so I ended up with the second to last building selection time (1:30pm). Which buildings typically fill up the fastest and which ones are usually left over? Are there usually any good first year dorms available at these later selection time?
You’ll likely find rooms available in the Broward, Graham, Jennings, Murphree, Tolbert and Yulee “areas”. By the way, folks picking in the first time slot (9:00) will also be picking rooms in these areas. Nothing wrong with any of these dorms, they are all good for Freshman (especially ones that want a more social environment).
Is there a floor plan or anything so you can see what you’re picking and approximately where it is?
@Gator88NE are there typically rooms still available in those areas by the second to last slot, since the first slots get first picks?
@Trisherella Back in 2014, when my daughter picked, there was a floorplan, so she could pick the floor and room. I don’t know if they still do that today, or if they only let you pick from a list.
@freemyboikodak There should be plenty of rooms left by the last time slot in several of the dorms.
I dont know if this answers your questions, but when we picked for summer, we didnt know room numbers or anything. We could only pick building and type of room. I wont find out my actual room till early June! @Trisherella @Gator88NE
Yeah, no floor plan. I guess it’ll be a surprise to see what floor!
Yep, pretty stupid. L-)
My son had signed up for the engineering LLC and had already selected a roommate. Seems he had nothing to do this morning, as getting accepted into the LLC pretty much cared for signing him up for East Hall. He should have slept in today…
my son picked Lakeside
he was in the final group to pick today at 2pm
he wanted Broward but only triples were available at that time. Simpson and Trusler were still available and probably the better choices but he wanted Lakeside instead
the advantages I see for Lakeside is he will have a kitchen and be closer to the parking since he is taking his car
He might want to take a bike for that longer hike to classes from Lakeside.
Friend lives there and takes a bus.
we were on the fence before whether to purchase the meal plan or not, but if he’s going to live in Lakeside I’m thinking we should definitely not buy the meal plan since he’ll have a kitchen and the dining areas are going to be far away
@RCGator I agree, it wouldn’t make much sense.
