Get the 10 practice test book. Although it is not that accurate of a representation, it is still worth buying. It has helped me develop strategies even though it doesn’t accurately potray what you will get on the real ACT. Use the red book to see what you will actually get.

Twins127, if you are referring to the McGraw & Hill 10 Practice Test book, then I also suggest it.

The 10 practice test book was the first ACT preparation book that I got - and I didn’t know that it was an “inaccurate representation” of the actual ACT. In fact, I think it’s a good indicator, perhaps slightly harder. I did not notice any significant difference between my McGraw & Hill book and the Real ACT.

The only difference is that my scores from reading and writing have improved, possibly from all the practice.

@OP:

If you’ve done all those practices and still don’t have scores up in the range, I suggest you go through them carefully and review everything you got wrong. For the math section, check everything over very carefully, and try to make your calculations neat.

If your science section is so low, try to learn a bit more of what you have trouble with. Most of it is interpreting charts, graphs, and arguments, so keep doing the old practices you’ve done.

For writing, go over the grammar rules, but avoid Barron 36 for that. I took a practice writing section in Barrons and got 9 wrong - as opposed to getting only 1 wrong when I did a real ACT writing test today. They make the test excessively difficult.

And to help with the reading section, try reading every day, for about 20-30 minutes. Read something that is well-written and about on par with difficulty of the ACT’s reading section. Try to analyze the source of your errors. I think reading is very straightforward. Everything you need is in the passage. Don’t try to infer at all, because if you think you have to infer to answer the question, you’ve probably forgotten or missed something that is explicitly stated in the passage.
