how do you bump a thread? and what does it mean?

threads with newer posts go to the top of the page. so, since i'm replying to you in this thread, it'll be "bumped" up. people bump threads if they want more info about the topic but don't have any more comments or questions.

Someone told me that it stands for "Bring Up My Post", but "bump" itself is self-explanatory. It's useful when there's an interesting thread but it's fallen off the 1st page, and you want the thread to get attention.

...or if you're a selfish attention-grabber who bases your self-worth on how many people say your grades and scores are excellent.

mmm, word.

Excellent description, jimmy. That's what's happening in the "what are my chances" thread. 3 outta 4 posts that are new happen to be bumps. noone cares.
