i emailed admissions this week and even though i did a TAG they said that any applications for the dept have to be processed by admissions first and then be processed again by the actual econ dept...so i was just wondering if any business econ majors have actually received their decisions yet..i have only heard of one and they told him to switch majors becuase he didnt get calc done

They made him switch majors with the TAG program ? Is Calculus a requirement? I thought all you needed was IGETC complete and 3.0 min.? Or do you need all of your premajor ( assist.org ) classes complete too?

I think adam48 might be talking about me. I was emailed last week and I was told that I would not be accepted into the premajor status because I didn't have Calc AND Acct, but I had a decent GPA of 3.4 and IGETC complete so they just asked me if I wanted to change my major and they even said I can change my major if I attend. I switched my major to Communications, it was kind of a long shot for Bus Econ without Calc and Acct, I'd say if you have 4/7 pre reqs done you're safe with a 3.0, I will only have 3 by end of spring term so I'm guessing that's why they asked me to change my major.

adam48: I think the TAG for bus econ requires that all the pre reqs be completed by end of Spring. Worst case scenario, you will have to go through what I went through. If you have above a 3.0 and IGETC complete, they usually find a way to admit you as a transfer.

for bus econ transfers you HAVE to complete stats, one semester of calc, micro and macro with at least a 2.75 to be admitted into the program, the other courses (fin. acct, mgr, acct, and the other calc classes) are reccomended but not required

from assist.org
all the info from your specific CCC should be on your assist site as well
Transfer students who wish to declare the business economics major must complete
the following four courses with a 2.75 grade-point average before admission to
UCSB: one microeconomics course, one macroeconomics course, one statistics
course, and one calculus course.

will my ap stats test that i got a 4 on fufill the pre-req requirement?

vp0313...i honestly have no idea..i would check their website or call/e-mail them

alright thanks adam48, i went on this entire time assuming it would work, but i never actually was told that it would : /

I had a similar question (but about AP Calc instead of Stats) and I emailed UCSB asking about it.

Here's the response I got:

"If you scored a 3 or higher on the calculus AB exam then you will have completed the first calculus requirement within the pre-major."

So you should be okay!

have any bus. econ gotten their decisions at this point?
