"I'm going to pretend I didn't read the words 'subway' and 'efficient' in the same sentence, and back slowly out of this thread..."

i'm going to pretend you didn't post this, actually I can't pretend, the subway travels at 40-60mph, 20-30 on average with all the stopping. it's only inefficient at night when it's low frequency. The subway is other things (dirty, crowded, ugly perhaps) but it's quick.

the subway is hardly comparable to the path train or the rail in boston which reminds me of disneys monorail....the other day i waited 18 mintues (timed it) for a 1 train and it was 3 pm. this is going to start becoming the norm pretty soon- I overheard an MTA guy talking about a huge number of layoffs and that it will affect the capacity of trains running by up to 30% within the next year....

Yeah, I saw that. My monthly's gonna be really expensive in a couple of months. $105...

MTA is going through a weird transition stage, and so the quality of service is going to go down some. They're suffering the recession like everyone else. Over the holidays the train station by my house became filthy -- human feces, more rats, homeless people sleeping inside it. It got better in a couple of weeks but I kept thinking "I hope that this is not what I have to look forward to..."

In other news, though, they did get new E trains. Not that we ever need to take the E for anything, but there you go.

"unless you're talking about falling asleep with Micah's car keys on last year's ski trip, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about."

Of course not. Why would that be a dumb thing to do?

"good job using real names there"

He also invoked a good friend of mine in another thread...this is becoming a pattern. Denz, we might need to terminate you if you keep doing this :)
