Business and engineering? Any reward?

I am interested in Drexel's B&E program. I heard that it is very quantitative based and I like both math and business so I think its perfect. I want to do something with financial engineering. Do you believe this program is for people who are seeking for jobs straight out of college or are planning to attend grad school? What sets this program apart from the mathematical economics degree? Is it possible to take a computer science course with the limited availability of electives? I heard it's rigorous can you balance philly's nightlife and Drexel's academic burden and still maintain good grades? Is Philly safe (I live around LA)? FYI, I'm a rising junior in high school.

Thank you please answer!!

I think that it’s probably a 50/50 split as to whether graduates go for jobs or for grad school, maybe leaning more towards grad school (especially MBA’s). I imagine you’ve read about the program on Drexel’s website but just incase, this probably has some helpful information: <a href=“Business and Engineering < 2022-2023 Catalog | Drexel University”>http://catalog.drexel.edu/undergraduate/collegeofbusiness/businessandengineering/

I think you’re perspective on the program is slightly skewed. It’s not a “Business Engineering degree”, it is a “Business AND Engineering” degree. What sets it apart from things like mathematical economics is that it’s giving you a business education with a fundamental engineering background. Meaning that you’ll be taking Chemistry, and Physics, and Engineering courses, along with your economics, and business, and accounting courses. The degree, as far as I know it, is more suited for someone who wants to have a technical background when they enter into the business world.

There is no shortage of computer science courses to take either. In terms of how many CS courses you can fit into the curriculum, there’s definitely enough room that you can minor in computer science, because I know someone who is doing just that haha. These might be helpful:

Whether or not you can maintain a balance of Social life and Grades is completely dependent on who you are. I’m not in B&E, so I can’t tell you too much about the rigor of the program. I’d definitely go to one of the open house for students days, that’s how I found out about the program i’m in (Materials Science and Engineering) when I was looking into Drexel and it really helped me make the choice.

in terms of safety, I’ve heard people say Drexel is the 3rd safest campus in the United States. I don’t know how true it is, but I’d believe it. It’s in an area of Phillly known as University City which consists of uPenn, uSciences, and Drexel, so it’s mostly just colleges in the area. I’m from a small farm town in Jersey and I’ve never felt uncomfortable, I don’t think you, being from LA, would either.

Thank you! how is the cs program at Drexel? @OnWithTheRiotDU‌
