Whether you think that's "legitimate" depends on your view of the USNWR rankings.</p>
<p>There are sort of fundamentally two types of people who major in management at MIT -- the people who came in determined to be management majors, and the people who tried a technical major but didn't like it/were bad at it and had to declare management because it's easier than the technical majors.</p>
<p>People in the first group tend not to be looked down upon. People in the second group are often a little less lucky in the court of public opinion.</p>
