I am thinking about going for business major in northeastern, How is the program there? is there some other good colleges for business at MA?
Thanks

Northeastern was ranked 35th for it’s undergraduate business program by Business Week (2010 ranking). Last year it was 25th.

It’s International Business program was ranked 13th in 2009 by U.S. News and World Reports.

Another good college for business in MA is Boston College

Actually, Northeastern business was ranked 27th in 2009 and 32nd in 2010 by Business Week.

Oh sorry, my bad. I was in math class when I posted that…too many numbers running around my head

Last time I checked, Northeastern was one rank behind Lehigh. I’d say that’s pretty good.
Is International Business still ranked 13?

cool! but what SAT scores do I need to get in the business program?

i got in 1510…

is that with writing score?
and what’s your reading and writing score? (if you don’t mind to share)

I was originally accepted to business with a 34 ACT score. I had a 2120 SAT, but I ended up not sending that. I know mine’s probably on the slightly higher side, but I did get some money from them.

Northeastern, as previous posters have said, has a fairly strong business program. Being in the center of Boston and the ability to gain experience through their co-op program probably contributes to that. I don’t know ranking wise, but Boston University also has a pretty good business program as well. Brandeis just started an undergraduate business major this year, but their graduate program has done well in years past. (and of course BC, as runningeagle had said).

I am worrying about my reading and writing score, so what do i have to get to get in the business program?

no i dont mind sharing…i felt like i wouldnt get in but somehow manged to …dont know what got me in though

530 Reading
460 Math
520 Writing

and my gpa is like 3.3 or smdn…

also i got in Smeal(penn State) do any of u have any advice for me on which one I should attend and please also state the reason?

@ internation
Isn’t penn state better? and penn state is cheaper if you’re in state right?
but NEU has a co-op which is very cool, so it’s your choice.
PS. can you tell me your EC?

Ill mention it all in brief:

Work Experience: Worked at BMW 2 years in a row, one as a marketting intern and then as a finance intern also I was part of DECA(A business-marketting club)

Sports:

Played Football for 4 years Varsity, won a lot of stuff for that…

Samething with Cricket…

Clubs

Green Team (events manager)
PCRF( events manager)
MSF

*but what i think got me in was personally the IB DIPLOMMA PROGRAMME…nothing else in my opinion…

Yea Penn states better i guess…moneys not a problem…Im worried about the partying tag attached there

I got
670 Writing
550 Reading
740 Math

800 Spanish II
710 Math IIC

3.4 GPA

EC: Spanish translator for basically all my high school career. I think my language skills was a huge ass boost.
And I ranked 2nd in all of NJ in a spanish contest.

Got in.

anyone else? please help me, thank you.

I’m a freshman at NU and I also applied to PSU (from PA). The difference between Smeal and NU’s College of Business Administration couldn’t be more. Sure Smeal’s a good business school, but as far as career placement and actual experience in the business world, NU is way ahead of Smeal. The program is absolutely fantastic here (I’m in International Business, considered our best program). If money’s not an issue, I’d say definitely go to NU.

I know what you mean with the “party tag” associated with PSU. NU students and grads are known for their professionalism and experience. They do a great job here.

I am thinking about NYU too, should I go to NU or NYU if I get accepted for both?

bobbob924, I don’t wanna discourage you or anything,
but I personally think NYU’s business school stern isn’t worth the competition.
Sure, it gives you a title once u graduate and seek jobs,
but NEU gives you 18 fricken months of job experience once u graduate.
Title > 18 months of experience?
Nahhhhhs.

If I were an employer, I’d rather hire a kid who knows wth he’s doing.

That’s why I made NEU my first choice school.

Apart from the co-op experience, how is the actual teaching/academics of Business at NEU? Is co-op the only good thing or do the professors actually teach well?
