Business career? help me think (HS senior)

Hey guys whats up? I'm a HS senior and am trying to figure out a career, well, a major anyway, that would be best for me. I really love watching CNBC, playing stock games, etc. I also am in AP statistics and really like the class and the thinking involved. BUT, other math, like the AP calculus I'm in, doesnt come so easy and its not that enjoyable to me (if that matters in business?) What would be a good sector of work for me based on....

Likes:
Technology (i'm trying to choose between comp. engineering and business)
new and current topics
computers
seeing new places
interaction

dislikes:
no free-time
politics (to a degree)

skills:
communication, writing
analytical thinking
creativity, art
critical thinking

please post any ideas. Any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

if you dislike no free-time..... then Ibank doesnt fit you I think

i guess i shold have clarified this. I dont mind working alot, i mean i study close to 3 hrs. every night as it is now, but i do want like one day a week to just not have to think. or even half a day. working 24/7 isnt for me.

^ then you'd probably hate i-banking. I'd recommend consulting (maybe tech consulting if you like CS).

Yeah, you seem to like technology so I also recommend IT Consulting. Another career is business analyst.

Check out IS (information systems), at some schools it's called MIS (management information systems).

what is the pay like for the tech jobs in business? can u elaborate more on what a business analyst is?

I heard Ibank is one of the highest, but you need to work 100 hours per week without weekend

"what is the pay like for the tech jobs in business?"

I believe it can vary by a large amount. I can tell you S just finished first year at a NYC investment bank as software engineer with IS background (BS and MS).

Salary ~ 70K to start, but the big thing is bonuses. In his department they can be big (like equal to your salary, or much more, he's sure of this) depending on what your job is. I don't know if this is common at other places.

ok so i'm 3 weeks into AP calculus and its def. my least fav. class. But, stats is one of my favorites, i just like the process of it. will IT consulting require much math (other than pre-cal or alg.2)?
also, what exactly does a business analyst do? other than analyze businesses lol. thanks guys.

what about e-comerce?

I've been looking into E-commerce some. I want to get a major in comp. engineering and a minor in IT management, but i dont know if i could be a comp. engineer if there is a lot of high order math and algorithms and stuff like that, i'm in AP calculus this year and its not going to well.

AP Statistics isn't real stats, it is dumb down stats. But don't worry, down down stats is all you need in business. Same with dumb down math. Business is perfect for math idiots, the math there is really dumb down.

VTBoy why are you so bitter? If you hate business majors so much why do you keep posting on the business major board?

I am not bitter, just telling people like it is.

Do you walk up to people on the street and tell them they are ugly too? Or is your bravery confined to the safe space behind your computer screen? :)

Sorry OP. I won't take over your thread. This will be my last post to VTBoy

Financial Engineering/Financial Mathematis is the only area of business that I would say requires intense math.

Math idiots? thats a tad harsh. I know very little about the career, but i do know that business professionals are by no means idiots in any part of their job. They are probably usually stronger in writing and english than in math, but their careers require it. I'm decent at math,i've had A's every year and only struggle some in AP calculus because my teacher is one to not explain anything logically. i'm interested in business because i like economics, internet, wall-street, and finance, not because i'm afraid to be an engineer or math teacher. although i was considering comp. engineer at one point. lol
