business degree & fashion

My daughter is interested in entrepreneurship/small business management. Ultimately she
would like to work in the fashion industry. I am wondering if earning an undergraduate degree in business w/minor in fashion may give her more opportunities than strictly studying fashion merchandising at schools like FIT or Parsons?

We have just started to look into schools like Philadelphia University & Columbia College in Chicago. Can anyone give us any feedback on these schools? Any others we should look into?
She would rather be close to Boston or NYC for great internships in the industry.
Many Thanks!

I was in the fashion management program at Columbia College for a year and I’d recommend the program considering the “fashion” aspect is only a concentration within the larger arts, entertainment, and media management major. So, you’re not really all the pigeonholed when you’re seeking jobs. All of the instructors actually work in the industry too so it’s a great learning experience and the location can’t be beat. I’d recommend it if she’s career oriented but the educational aspect is pretty lacking outside of the major.
