Do business economics majors at UCLA end up working for investment banks? What other types of jobs do they get? Is it supposed to be a "prestigious" major or a major that employers like?

they do end up at investment banks, but just like any other highly ranked school, only a few people make it into investment banking. There are definitely other analyst positions that pay less.

Employers definitely like the major.

It's good that they like the major, and not much less than USC's Business Administration.

I'm interested in that too.
Also, would you have an advantage with the BizEcon degree over people from let's say UCSD and UCB who have a regular Econ degree? I mean job wise right after graduation...

Berkeley Econ is one of the top departments in the nation. Even though Berkeley has Haas, and often employers wonder why econ majors who want to work on Wall Street didn't do finance/biz/etc., this is not the case with Berk. Therefore, I doubt UCLA BizEcon would have an advantage. Plus, I-banks recruit out of Haas very heavily (far more than out of both USC-Marshall and UCLA-Anderson) so Econ majors there already have access to campus recruiters.

I would say there's a definite advantage over UCSD econ though.

Makes sense themegastud, for some reason I keep thinking that bizecon at UCLA beats everything else in California when it comes to Business. So you would pick UCB econ over UCLA bizecon then?

Cal Econ is not better than UCLA bizecon.

Cal's primary advantage and strength is Haas. They have an excellent business administration program and are well-known for it. I'm sure their economics dept, however, is just as strong as UCLA's. UCLA, however, has a strong business economics program which is economics with more business flavor.
