Business for unexperienced, non-business majors

Title says it all. This question is for a friend; she's currently a college junior, looking to go into business. Consulting would be ideal, but what can she do NOW to prepare for recruitment season in the fall? She's majoring in a (non-econ) social science, with very little coursework in econ/stats/math. Not sure how feasible a summer business internship is, as she already has one that pays really well lined up at hear current job in a different sector. She has a ton of experience in government (relatively speaking, for her age), but no econ background. She does have a very high GPA from a top-tier school though, and some research experience in applied economics, so hopefully those will help.

Anyway, any advice on what her next step should be would be great. Please only speak either from personal experience, or if you're sure you know what you're talking about :) Additionally, any advice as to what businesses (consulting firms or otherwise) might be more lenient on non-business majors would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah my only business experience was waiting tables, and I got a pair of offers from consulting firms last fall. Companies – aside from the top tier ones – look for experience in SOMETHING as a fantastic alternative to experience in something specific.
