Business Grad

Hello guys! I need some help. I honestly don’t know what I do best or like to do… I’m currently in my third year of college and im a general business major. What can I do with a general business major? Can i go to grad school with that? What minor would compliment my major. I’m a girl and I was planning to switch to business management but since im a girl, i’m not sure what i can really do with that and if im able to get a job. Would health or pyschology be a good minor? I’m pretty lost.

Yes, you can go to bus. grad school (local) although there is no advantage/benefit of that. On the other hand, the selective an top business schools will require you to have professional experiences after undergraduate at least 2,3 or 4 years. No working experiences, your application to any of those top business schools will be rejected.

if you go to MBA school now after undergraduate, you will not be able to contribute anything in class discussion since you don’t have any experiences. You are still green and your mileage is low.

Well, do you have any idea, why you have chosen business school in undergraduate? what is your dream to be in the future? are you like one of those guys that just go to school aimlessly as long as at the end you have a college diploma?

If you take health or psychology? do you want to work in those industry as of what? working in business office at doctor’s office? if you want to be psychology, you need to have Phd in Psychology to be able to practice.

General business degree can be used in Margin Trading or so called day trading. Also, they can do Sales. If you take accounting as core courses then you can work as an accountant. If you take Finance, you can work in banking, or finance industry.

Also, general business degree can be used in working for hotels, call-centers, or general business area. Lots of jobs out there.

Anyhow, what is your dream job? you must have something otherwise why you have to go to college?

Depending on your country and culture, your gender should be irrelevant. There can be some discrimination, but if you have the skills and desire, you’ll be fine with the right company.

Psychology is a great minor if you are managing or influencing people. Have you taken any human resources classes? Marketing? You don’t have to be a people manager; you can specialize in an area and manage processes or projects instead if that’s more to your liking. Or if you’re great with people and like selling, there are some entry level options as a sales rep. Have you done any internships? You should start gaining some experience to know what you like.

An MBA is best after a few years experience, and only if you feel it’s necessary to move your career forward. If you don’t know what you want to do, I’d forget about grad school right now and start interning, shadowing, or doing something to get more exposure to job options. Have a chat with your career center and see where others in your major have gone after graduation.
