if your majoring in some sort of business degree do you usually go on to graduate school?
I know it will be different for the different majors but can you make a overall generalization?
Because overall medical/science majors usually continue on to graduate school...

i have the impression that for business majors, graduate school isn't really necessary.. many ppl mite go on.. but a lot of ppl also don't and they do fine.. am i right?

I think in certain instances you really need to go get an MBA. Management Consulting usually requires it, as does banking (I know, i've heard in some cases that you can bypass it but mostly people go and get their MBA's before being promoted to associate). I think you don't have to get an MBA all the time, but in some career paths it'll be necessary to get you the promotion you desire.

Management consulting pushes you to an mba. Banking, if you make associate out of analyst you dont need the mba. After your 2 year stint you either a) get asked for a third year b) get promoted to associate c) quietly asked to leave to pursue other goals which becomes 1) go to private equity 2)go to asset management/hedge funds 3) Try to get picked off for another investment bank/boutique as an associate 4) do an mba 5) do whateverthe hell else you wanna do with your life. Trading doesnt require crap. One could also easily replace an mba with a JD and make it less of a 2 year vacation into a 3 year costly hell if you so choose.

point is, once youre in you really never HAVE to do an mba but if the market situation is rough and jobs are low, many people use that as a time to go get a degree and lie in wait for the upturn with a fancy new degree.
