I am currently looking for an internship that relates to business or economics that I could possibly do this school year or next summer. I'm going to be a Junior in high school this fall. The only actual high school internship program for business I found was at Washington Mutual and I know two people that have done it. (one goes to Wharton and the other goes to Northwestern)

Do any of you guys have any experience looking for high school internships?

Have any of you done some sort of business internship during high school?

Should I just send my reseme to a bunch of business (Edwards Jones, UBS, CME, Lasalle Bank, etc.) and hope for the best?

I am an intern at UBS in Switzerland right now and I hate to brake it too you that unless you have experience or are well connected it is extremely unlikely you will get an internship. I am a high school student(rising sophmore) as well but I assure you unless you have connection or a solid CV you will not get internship and would be extremely lucky to get a unpaid internship because it looks like u have no experience.

rather than looking for something grand, like a friend I had working a summer anaylst at Chase Morgan her junior year in hs, try something smaller. Internships are hard to come by as hs students, but try to contact local businesses and see if they are will to hire. Alot of times paid internships might be out of the questions, but you may still be able to intern in a non paid positions, those tend to be win - win, free for the business and good for the student who wants to get experiance.

I wouldn't worry too much about trying to find an internship in high school. In some areas they are hard to come by even in college. Try getting a job in an office setting, even if it's filing or copying. Also, temp agencies are great if you are having trouble finding positions. They will place you in a temporary assignment and you can specify that you prefer office/clerical jobs. When your assignment ends they will place you in another, etc.

hallerbigballer makes a point about you should have fun. but i think that for next summer you can have a job like three days a week and since you are working for free most likely they wont care and just chill the rest of the week or even just work in the mornings or something. you dont need to jump into it so heavy and have the all or nothing, just get something on your "reseme" (ha ha) you know.
