Hey everybody I just got my test scores back today and was looking for suggestions as to what schools I should look into. My basic stats:

3.7 GPA UW - 5 APs
33 ACT (33 writing 30 math 34 reading 35 science)
1980 SAT (660 M 660 CR 660 W)
Pretty good ECs in athletics, employment, volunteer work, leadership positions, etc.

I'm looking to go into accounting or finance, so I'm looking for suggestions at business schools that would fit for me. Some I'm already considering are:

Boston u
U Richmond
Wake forest
Wisconsin
Indiana
Pitt
Suny Binghamton
Northeastern
Villanova
UIUC

If you could leave some suggestions/feedback it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Your scores are impressive, you should have applied to top universities like NYU or UNC for business and apply for scholarship if necessary.
I know for sure you would get accepted to UNC at chapel hill. It is one of the nation’s top universities that offer a great business education regarding finance and accounting as well as a high paid job after.

As for the universities you have applied to now,
so far i think BU and Northeastern are the best ones but im sure all the rest would fit you too.

BU and Northeastern are also ranked as one of the top universities that offer great business education, according to us college news. I wish i applied there if i knew about this before.

my mom says she can pay for $20,000 a year, I live in upstate NY. She makes ~$100,000 a year. And goldfish68 - I haven’t applied to any schools yet, I’m a junior. These are just schools I’m considering. Do you really think I’m good enough for UNC? I thought it was too selective for me, maybe a reach?

If you wanna do business as an undergrad, look into schools with available undergrad business schools. The big ones are UC Berkeley, USC, University of Illinois, UT Austin, Brigham Young, University of Michigan, NYU, or…Wharton of UPenn (one of the best and hardest biz schools in the world)…

Ok I’ll starting looking into UNC as a reach now. I’m already looking at UIUC and Michigan but michigan doesn’t give much OOS aid so I crossed it off already. Anyone have any more suggestions for undergrad business? specifically accounting/finance?

If you’re considering Northeastern and BU, you should look down the road at BC. BC’s business school would be considered by most better than those at BU or NEU.

Since you already have a good list of safeties (NEU, BU, Binghamton, Indiana, Villanova), I’d suggest you look at Georgetown, Notre Dame, Boston College, Emory, and CMU – these are all solid schools for finance and accounting majors. Your ACT score is good enough to target these schools, although I don’t really have an idea how good your GPA is in the context of your high school. Are you in the top 10% of your class?

I go to a really competitive top 100 ranked high school, and although the school doesn’t rank I’d say I’m around top 15%. Our school puts out numerous Ivies every year and going to a school like Northwestern (Notre Dame, BC, NYU, etc.) is rather common if that helps you get a better picture

Yeah those are a few of my target schools at the moment. Anybody else have any input on where I stand? Does anyone here think I have a shot at a school like BC or Georgetown? I hadn’t really considered them b/c I thought they were out of my reach. Also - does anyone have any input on my chances at schools like Wake Forest, U Richmond, or Villanova? I had them as high targets before my 33 ACT came back but now I’m wondering how my chances have changed. Thanks!

He got a 33 on the ACT and maintains a 3.7 UW with 5 APs (which apparently translates into top 15% at a Gold Medal Public HS). I will be very surprised if he doesn’t get into at least 4 out of those 5 schools.

The only one of those that might be considered a safety is Bing, and that’s debatable with the increased competition to get in. Cost is the major problem. A safety has to be affordable and the OP said his family can only afford $20K/year. There are wrinkles at the various schools as well: 64% of Nova’s admitted students are in the top 10% and 66% have >3.75 GPA. Bing views ECs and the App Essay as important. etc.

Wow that presidential scholarship looks really good right now haha thats sweet! Do you know anything about the school? I haven’t really looked that far south so I don’t know much about it. Good business school? Thanks!
