The question I ask this is that my friend who goes to the Carlson School at UM-Twin Cities said he never took Accounting in high school, yet he is majoring in it.

I was wondering, did any of you guys take classes such as Business Law, Finance, or Accounting in high school?

yeah, you really don't need HS courses in business at all. I have taken intro to management and intro to business at a CC while in HS but no HS classes. My school doesn't even offer business classes like accounting or finance and it is a highly regarded school.

Well, it could possibly be that way because I go to a small, rural school in North Dakota. We offer Economics, Business Law, Business Finance, and Accounting I and II.

I took IB Economics and IB Economics 2 in 11 and 12th grade respectively. While not specifically business, our economics team that represented us in 12th grade made it all the way to nationals for the HS "Economic Challenge" contest they have every year. We (the course and class) are also continually represented as the best economics class for a HS in Texas. Sorry, I just had to gloat about that. :)

I do, but its more finance and general business realted and we had something like intro to accounting and stuff, but then again I don't attend a normal school....

i took business courses in high school my school offered principles of business and i went to community college and took macro/micro economics as well as BUsiness Law, BUsiness marketing, Business 1A

I have done GCE A level business studies (i am an international student) and its very rigorous, it has marketing, finance, accoutning, economics, Human Resource management etc.. I think u can do A levels in the US too ... might be a good idea for u guys to do it privately

^Haha, I think just about every high school offers entrepeneurship and most of the time, they never teach anything. I should know because I took it.

My D took Economics and Accounting I as a HS sophomore last year. In addition her HS offers Accounting II, Marketing and Entrepeneurship, and an International Business course.

She was not interested in Business until taking those classes last year. HS classes may or may not help you get into a program at college but they can be used to give a student an idea of interests and/or aptitude.
