is there a such thing here at UCLA? I was looking it up without any luck. The best I see is a minor in accounting?

As stated before, there is no business minor or major at UCLA. The closest major to business is Business-Economics, which really isn't a business major at all. It's simply an Econ major with accounting classes.

Oh I see. So if looking to get into the whole "business" deal would an accounting minor be my best bet? And what kind of areas can i get to with such a minor?

^ Sure. If you really want to be an accountant. I mean, a business undergraduate major isn't all that necessary. I think the MBA is what really matters if you want to be in the business field. I think something like half (or more) of MBA students were engineers or other majors.

Are there any pre requirements we must fulfill?

Pre-reqs for biz-econ major are the following:
Math 31A, 31B, Econ 11, 41, 101, 1, 2, Management 1A, 1B, any Writing II

I see, how about to get into MBA?

For MBA, work experience, recs, interviews, and gmat seem to matter the most.

yah. don't worry about grad programs til you get INTO college... lol

ohh yaa?? umm the last time i checked i went to ucla?

Don't worry about b-school requirements. Just get good internships.

I, for one, disagree with people who say that accounting is for an accounting career alone. Accounting will help you in all sorts of ventures. Having it is probably better than not having it. I sort of wish I had done an accounting minor, to be honest.

Really? What more opportunities does it open up for you? Right now I am an astrophysics major with premed lol... im pretty much open to many different things to say the least...

Well, remember that it's not just the skills per se that are important, but the signal it sends to the market.

sorry v4run... i'm on autopilot with all the high schoolers asking questions xD
