Is a business minor useless, or can it really advance a liberal arts degree in say english, history, or economics.

Do you want to get into the Business field, if you do then what's wrong with majoring in Business?

Other than that, a Business minor can be pretty useful if you want to expand your knowledge. But it usually depends on what kind of jobs you want.

If you wanna get into the business world, a business minor in finance, marketing, etc, complements and econ major well.

^second that ( though the "and" should be "an" :) )

my bad haha

Would it be good to be minor in business while majoring in Communication?

It depends what you goals are. If you want to start your own business then a minor in entrepreneurship is good. If you want to just understand the basics of the business field then the general business minor is good. If you want it for a backup if communication does not work out then do accounting. It is easy to get a accounting job.

It could. If there's substantial material covered. Many business minors merely requires introductory accounting, economics and one or two 300-level introductory marketing/management/finance courses. That's not worth your time.
But a true minor in a specific business concentration would be very helpful. Imagine marketing with english. Management with economics or history. Math with finance. Computer science with accounting. Those are some stellar combinations for a person to have a background in.
