Business Professionals of America

My friend (senior) is asking me (junior) if I want to help him start a chapter for BPA in our high school. However we are unsure if we really want to do it. How does it compare to FBLA and DECA in terms of competitions, events, and prestige. Also, how hard is it to start a chapter and how long would it take.

Thanks a lot.

why would you sell your soul to corporate america even before you graduated high school?

DECA is better because they have more events and scholarships. I did BPA before, biggest regret ever. Now I’m a Senior and I wish I would have done DECA in high school.

Well I am not choosing to do it instead… just in addition to FBLA and DECA. I was just wondering what to expect out of it in terms of the other clubs. And whether it is worth my time.

bump…

I always thought FBLA/DECA were pretty low in terms of prestige (I’m in FBLA) and I’ve never heard of BPA so I assume that’s even lower.

I would just focus on regional/state/national competitions in FBLA?

Hmmm… well I enjoy those clubs so if BPA is anything like it I would enjoy it as well. I know many people think FLBA is stupid b/c you just take tests but I don’t feel that way.

Is FBLA basically the same as BPA but more well known?

I’m not sure but I know that at my old school we just had BPA not the other ones. The people got pretty into it though. A girl from my school got elected the national president of BPA

are the regional/state/national conferences the only events BPA does?

anyone? I read something about torch awards…

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

bump bump =(

Definitely start a chapter, it is worth your time…
The competitions range from really easy to extremely competitive…
The state conferences are amazing (haven’t been to nationals)…
Torch Awards are an amazing way to reward students who have leadership positions, volunteer, and are involved in their communities…
…I’ve only been in it for a year but it is awesome…
