Hey i was wondering if anyone had a link to a web site or old thread talking about the business program at Duke. I know that Duke does not have a business school and that most people major in economics for "business". But do you have to major in economics for business? and would you have to go to business grad school? can undergraduates take classes at Fuqua? thanks!

you cannot take any classes from the fuqua school, you can major in econ, and you can get a minor in essentially business with a markets and managemnt degree

1) you don't have to major in economics to ultimately go into business. plenty of students are successful with investment banking recruiting (and looking into the grander realm of business -- marketing, accounting, management consulting, etc etc etc) without a major in economics. they just have taken some core econ courses, have a course resume with a strong quantitative background, are keeping the GPA up and have a general interest in the field.

2) going to business grad school is further down the road. and that's a decision people will make based on their first job (or two, or whatever) out of college and whether or not it's "necessary" at that time. but the short answer is no, you will not need to go directly to an MBA program directly after graduation, and tons of duke students are successful with business recruiting for analyst positions on campus.

3) while undergrads can't take classes with fuqua students, there are classes offered taught by fuqua professors.
