Another point we had not considered, transferring of credits. Thank you!
@kellyannm My son just wrapped up his freshman year at Fort Lewis. He is a scholarship athlete on the Mtn biking team, raced int the A category as a freshman, though he never made the top half of any collegiate race, he is now classified by USA Cycling as a Pro. 2 weeks ago, he raced against the country’s fastest mtn bikers in the Carson City Off Road -as the 2nd youngest rider in the field, not finishing last was a big victory. He absolutely loves Durango and the cycling team, coaches, terrain, etc. He is one his bike 15 hours or more most weeks but, was able to manage a 15 unit load. The school has a lot of students from Colorado as well as NM, CA. If he goes - I would steer him toward a traditional residence hall like Escalante or Camp. My son is an exercise science major and knows lots of business majors. (I am nudging him to pick up a Biz minor). They like the program. As a Colorado state school, I wouldn’t worry too much about accreditation for a degree like Biz - though as you note, they are AACSB accredited.

A small, little known private school without accreditation would concern me though. Transfers, grad school and potential employers may not know what to make of it. (I’ve not heard of Lee’s McRae - so I know nothing about the quality of the program)
Getting to Durango there isn’t too bad, Albuquerque is about 3 hour drive but, there are plenty of flights into and out of Durango, connecting through Phoenix and Denver. The town is isolated but ia home to around 20k people and, you can find every convenience you’d need.
I think you will be sold with just one visit.
I am happy to answer any other questions or, feel free to PM me -
I hit my 15 post mark this week and now have PM privileges, I’ve been waiting for this moment! We had an earlier exchange in a post I put up about cycling scholarships (is it your son that mine had an IG exchange with through our contact outside of College Confidential? I can’t tell from your screen name, sorry!). Lees McRae is the other college that is a sponsor of the NICA program, alongside Ft. Lewis. We, otherwise, would not know these colleges, to be honest. Lees McRae really impressed us, we visited last month. They are the only college to have a Cycling Science Minor through their business program, which was appealing to our son. Having said all this, he has his heart set on Ft. Lewis and we’re scheduled to visit Sept. 12.
