Most schools are not AACSB accredited, however, some are. Does this accreditation make a school more "prestigious"? How will attending an non-AACSB school change my future? For instance, If I decide to transfer out or attend graduate school elsewhere, will my credits generally be transferable? In other words, how vital is a AACSB accreditation in the business field?

Can anyone tell me if an AACSB accreditation is at all important?

It is very important.

@Madaboutx Thank you. I didn’t realize how essential the AACSB accreditation really is. I’ll now have to reconsider Stony Brook.

Its the difference between a recognized, credible program and rubber stamp degree.

I can’t say that all accredited programs are equal nor can I say that all unaccredited programs are low quality, degree mills.

But I can say that there ate many levels of business education. So, where you get your degree from really can affect how high up the rung you can get in some places.

AACSB accreditation is very important if you plan to apply to a top tier or top 25 to 40 graduate business school.

AACSB accreditation assures a base level of coursework and instruction. In general it is preferable to go to an accredited institution.
