business schools in Georgetown and other Catholic schools?

After I read the profile of the class of 2018, I surprisingly found that the acceptance rate in McDonough business school was lower that that of SFS which maybe the most famous part in GU. So I am wondering if McDonough is as prestigious as Stern in NYU or even better? Somebody said it is not a Wall Street feeder school. And in Fiske Guide, GU overlaps Notre Dame and Boston College. Well, they are all the most Catholic schools in US maybe… and are both good in business. Can somebody compare their business schools?

PS: I also wonder the prestige of Georgetown College since I found people just paid attention to SFS or McDonough. Is internal transfer easy from GC to other schools?
Thanks a lot!

The acceptance rate is lower for MSB than SFS, but the stats are higher for SFS. I think it is because more self-selection is going on with SFS. Also, SFS takes more students than MSB.

Plenty of MSB students go on to Wall Street. If your primary point of comparison is with Stern, it’s worth noting that the previous Dean of the MSB, George Daly, came to Georgetown from Stern, where he spent 9 years as Dean.

I would not describe Notre Dame - and most definitely not Georgetown or Boston College - as among “the most Catholic schools in the US.” Certainly not from a doctrinaire or dogmatic perspective. As for the business schools, Bloomberg, Forbed, and BusinessWeek seem to have the market cornered on comparing undergraduate programs.

Anyway, Georgetown College is plenty well-respected in its own right. Transferring internally from one school to another is not necessarily ‘hard’ or ‘easy’ - the most important thing is to have a legitimate, well thought out reason, as well as strong academic standing. But you should really apply to the school you want to attend, rather than trying to game the system.

Whoever told you that Georgetown is not a Wall Street feeder school was wrong. Georgetown is pretty pre-professional and the internship/job search frenzy here is a running joke, and for good reason. I personally know of people getting jobs at places like Goldman, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, and others. Consulting is also really large (Deloitte is one of our biggest employers).

(Notice more than half of MSB students end in up in “financial services”)

As for schools, you should really apply to the one that you actually want to be in. The transfer process isn’t exceptionally difficult, but taking courses outside of your school is (especially in the MSB), so you’ll be playing catch-up curriculum wise.
