Hi, Im a frosh Business Economics major at UCSB. I realized that everyone here at UCSB says there is no "business" at UCSB. So, I am thinking about transferring to USC. How difficult is it, and when should I do it? I dont want to transfer too late, since I want to be able to study abroad and things like that. Shouldi apply as a gen. ed transfer, or as business?

Also, would anyone reccomend just staying at UCSB, getting picked up by one of the big 4 accounting firms, and then just doing grad school at Marshall? Just a thought...

I transfered from a UC with a 3.5 GPA to Marshall as an undergraduate, so I guess if you get that you should be able to transfer pretty easily.

therevenge, do us a favour and tell which UC you came from. Each UC holds different clout..Well, no. Actually, only a few of them hold clout at all.

can anyone help me out?? Thanks!

i transfered from uci-3.4 GPA. the only reason i had a 3.4 and not a 3.6-3.7 is because i got a D in multivariable calc, i think admissions looked past it though. 3.4 is not easy to get either, so hit the books and stay focused. i was an econ major and transfered as a biz major. i minor in econ now.

you can apply for transfer when ever you like, deadline is in feb i think. i think you can defer admissions for a year also but i am not for sure. i reccomend getting as many GE's out of the way, and not taking any major requirement classes until later, as you will have to take all the core biz classes here regardless.

one thing i think USC realizes is that UC's are kind of harder than Community College, i thiink thats why uc transfers can get in with relatively lower GPA's.

if you plan on majoring in biz, then you may not need a an MBA in the future, depending on your career path and what you want to do. thats why most biz/accounting/finance majors dont go on to graduate MBA programs. my opinion, and this is opinion of a person who has done his research, is that you should do what you want NOW and dont think about grad school just yet. when that time comes, it will come, but it wont be for a while buddy.

if you are really interested in biz and working in the biz world, then come to USC by all means. no other undergrad b-school (besides Cal's haas) will offer you the same oppurtunities or experience, in california that is.

how about if i transfer from a CSU like SDSU?
what kind of GPA would i need? and how difficult is it?
