Business vs Economics at Pomona?

One of Pomona's common app questions requires you to indicate first and second choice "academic interests." Can someone please explain the difference between the "Business" and "Economics" listed, because those are the two I chose. But then what is business..? Pomona's website only shows Economics as a major: Department: - Economics - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS

It’s for statistical purposes. It goes on “Initial Academic Interests” on the Profile: http://www.pomona.edu/admissions/files/2017-class-profile.pdf</a> Business goes on Pre-professional, Economics goes on Social Sciences.

There is honestly no difference between what you put in that box and affecting admissions. The college (like most) expects that the majority of students will change their intended major (usually multiple times) before graduation. Unless you have a really unique interest (i.e. you want to major in “late antique medieval studies”) that would be reflected in your HS curriculum, EC’s, ect., it has no effect on your application.
