I'm planning to buy a Macbook Pro for when I start school this upcoming fall. I was planning to buy a couple weeks before I left since there are usually great deals around that time. But, for the past few months I've been stuck using my mom's pc desktop (which is SLOWER THAN DEATH). It's actually been making it really hard to get stuff done at that pace. Should I just ride it out or buy now? Is it really that worth it?

I’d say ride it out.

Apple usually has their “back to school” deals where you get a free iPod touch + education discount when you buy a MBP. Save as much money when you go to college.

Apple’s back to school offers will probably kick off in late June/early July. Hang on for just two more months!

Back to School deal has showed up in the last few days of May. I believe, not 100% sure. I’m waiting it out too… I want to get my new camera and computer… Can’t wait.

At some colleges, after you get your student ID, you can buy Microsoft full versions of Windows and Office suites for $10 each. Therefore, if you buy a laptop early, you might want to just use the bare bones versions that come for free with the computer until you get your ID.
