Buyer's Remorse - Flying to NYC to See Fordham Rose Hill

Congratulations on your D’s fine options. Thanks for the updates. Given the costs and hassle of flying now, it may be good that she’ll be close to home.

My son also turned down the NMF full tuition from Fordham. Yes, it’s a bit weird when you know it’s worth about $130k.

wcramer: At least you know she had options. A full ride to NY is nothing to sneeze at; thankfully Bloomington is a wonderful, beautiful school so she will not be losing anything.

PM with BF issues if you’d like. I’ve been through a lot with both my kids and how it impacted their college experiences.

But for today, we’re all proud of your daughter and very happy for you. And it’s nice you did make the effort so she can see what she’s turning down.

just saw this thread again.Bloomington is a great college town and people were so friendly when we visited the Music School there. D was a candidate for their Honors College as a NMSemi (then a Finalist) so Im sure your D will be too. Honors Colleges at flagship state U’s are a great idea with many perks and benefits. We ate at a Tibetan restaurant in town…and there decent bagels too! You should be very proud of your D’s accomplishments. There may yet be more scholarship $$ you can wring out of IU before enrollment time!
Be aware…we’re NY’ers and visited in the winter and it was COLD even to us!!! Make sure your California D is prepared for that! Plus, its a gray, cloudy kind of cold that may be disheartening to a West Coast kid.
D attended elsewhere b/c of music performance/music studio teacher options but IU was a serious contender for her.Friends S and many others I know attended there and had great experiences.

wcramer- Congrats to your D! It sounds as if she knows which school she “fits” with and she will do well there. Thanks for the update.

mousegray: YES. But, my ‘epiphany’ was when I realized I was in the driver’s seat of the college search bus. Once I backed way off, I realized she was losing interest. She is flattered by the offer and I will be saving it in her scrapbook to look back on someday. I hope she makes the right choice, but, at this point, I am at best an advisor (and financier…ha ha).

She needs to wait until May 1 and see what her other options are. The situation could look very different in the spring!
