So, for you current students, my freshman seems to think that there's no way to find out what books are being used in the coming quarter until you can get back into Norris and see what's on the lists/shelves. Is there really nothing posted online before the quarter begins indicating what books are required for courses? Or, is he just being lazy and won't look for the info online? ;) (Obviously, I'd like to save some $$ and look for cheaper sources before he has to go back.) Thanks!

There is a section on CAESAR in each class description for required materials. However, sometimes the professors post this info late or not at all. Muuuch more reliable would be the Norris website:

http://northwestern.bncollege.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/BNCBHomePage?storeId=30553&catalogId=10001 , then click “Textbooks”. You can put in your classes and get back a list of books and their retail/“Norris” price. Some of them might not be up, but I know two of mine are…and the one who isn’t up is the one that put the info on the CAESAR class description.

And then you go to bigwords.com and save as much money as possible. xD I’ll probably only spend around $60 on textbooks this quarter as opposed to the $300 bill last quarter, because I’m shopping online…never send 'em to Norris! Even Becks is extremely overpriced.

Thanks, Peri! I had stumbled upon the Norris site in the interim but the CAESAR class description was something my kid hadn’t realized might have a listing for required materials.
He’ll know for the future.

I generally just wait to the first day of class. Many times books are listed as required but really are optional, and I then just place an order on Amazon and use free two-day shipping for students. No one ever has required reading the first two classes.

Thanks to all for the links, which my son just used. He bought his books for winter quarter on Amazon; will be delivered to him before classes begin. He compared the prices on Norris vs. Amazon and some other sites, and said our final cost on Amazon was $200 cheaper than Norris (and this was just for 2 classes; he is borrowing a book from a friend for his third class, and his fourth class has just online materials). Sure wish we’d known about this last year, but very glad for info. now! All my CC reading time is paying off…

I have a question. So I’ll be a a freshman next year, but I always have to be studying 6+ hours a day (even in summer). Is there any way I can find out what books I’ll be using when I’m a freshman so I can get a head start? (By the way, my parents don’t make me study 6+hours a day. I don’t live with them. I just don’t feel comfortable not studying tons. Also, I’m not super weird) hahahaha Thanks!
