Buying Books

Can I buy my textbooks at the bookstore on Tuesday? My parents and I will be staying in Santa Monica, so they want to drive out to USC to buy books. They don't want to wait in super long lines on Wednesday.

ummmm...I believe that book lists are already up so there is no problem with buying them early. I think there will be lines every day this week and next week but they usually open extra registers so there should be a quick process.

so do most people buy their book at usc, or do they do it beforehand?

also, i hear that you should wait until the first day of class to buy books because some professors don't actually use all the books listed...is that true?

I think alot of people do it when they get there and get the book list. Yeah you should hear what the professor says, he/she will point out if the book is necessary or not.

So when does this booklist come out? on move-in day, or first day of classes? I already ordered a book from Amazon.com (apparently, I still only have 1 book to buy, according to Oasis). Should the list of Oasis right now be the final one?

I'm guessing it's pretty final now, as students will start pouring in Wednesday and after to buy books. You're supposed to look up your booklist on OASIS using the computers on the second floor of the bookstore, so that's pretty much the only confirmation you have of books you need to get until you get your syllabus in class.

if you're booklist turns out to be quite pricey, go to amazon/halfprice books/any other online source.
