Buying Up Dining Dollars

My son is pretty active and eats A LOT!! He is concerned about running out of dining dollars. Is it worth it to buy up now before the September 12th deadline? Is there some financial savings or benefits to "buying up" now verses just adding additional dining dollars as the year goes on?

nope.

there's also the chance that your son may end up abhoring campus food -- in which case, those dollars would be more wisely spent on runs to ralph's (free shuttle leaving every ~15 mins from campus) or costco (no shuttle, but he can make friends easily)

just buy up as you need it, theres really no necessity to buying up early, and if u ahve a lot you're more likely to just spend lavishly when its unnecessary, like random doodads from earls they have. i spent 15 points on a sea monkey thing and another 15 for mini bonsai tree that was pointless at the beginning of the year haha

Wait and see if he thinks he wants some later. He might supplement his meals with some of the fast food places on campus or in the nearby area since he'll probably get tired of dining hall food.

My D always ended up with extra dining dollars and it was all she could do to try to spend them since she doesn't eat that much. She spent a fair amount at Earl's even though they charge way more than they should for items. These were non-food items like a toaster oven, socks, etc.
