yea, I had a 3.66 GPA with weak extracurriculars (just NHS and rugby) and a 31 act and I got in, so you should be fine.

of course I did apply to the engineering college, and I heard that they place extra emphasis on your math/science skills, which was good for me because I got a 35 and 36 on the math and science parts of the act.

but a 4.0 gpa and 31 act, should be a sure thing

If you have a rigorous course load next year and you're willing to take subject tests, you may want to take a whack at some UC system schools or even lower Ivies. It all depends on what kind of experience you want. If you wanted something really intellectual, challenging, and, most likely, different, you could try U of Chicago. These are just some suggestions; take a look at some other Tier 1 schools.

But rence, none of those schools are better than Michigan. In fact, all UCs except for Cal and UCLA are weaker than Michigan. Ivies other than HYP aren't better than Michigan either, nor are Chicago and other elite private universities. And don't forget that to the OP, Michigan will come at a nice discounted pice of $20,000, all in!

Hahaha, do I detect a hint of subjectivism Alexandre? :)

Aside from the prospects of varying degrees of academia at other universities, Alexandre's point about UMich's price tag is right on the money...literally. HA! I'm sorry, I'm just being silly now.

I was thinking about looking out of state, but the money thing is really a big factor. And why should I, when U of M is better than the majority of schools out there
