I have always planned on being an engineer since I was little and I was accepted to Drexel early decision for mechanical engineering, where I'll be heading next year. However, I've struggled this whole year in AP Physics C. I got Cs and Ds on every test and a 2 on both Mechanics and E/M exams. Knowing how physics is critical to engineering, should I change my major this summer or take a risk and try out engineering first semester and see how i fare?

What was it you found so difficult about physics? Sometimes you just need that one concept to go ‘click’ and then physics just starts to fall into place.

Try one semester or even two in it. Depending on your schedule, you’ll have more time (and homework) to devote to mastering the concepts. It can’t hurt to give it another go.

Take a very light schedule, if Drexel allows (some U’s just won’t allow this which I think is a big mistake - this country always saying we need engineers). A C+ in AP Physics C in HS is fine. In college, C’s (in engineering) will be fine. (assuming you aren’t needing to keep a gpa-dependent scholarship) I guess what I want to say is, re: C’s, “get use to it”. BUT to manage the stress - and especially Freshmen year which for all is a huge adjustment - take the fewest credits/lightest schedule you can.
