Well, I always thought engineering sounded kinda cool. And I love math (in calc 1 now). and honors physics was so fun and the easiest class ever. Now I'm in AP Physics C. My grades the first 2 quarters were B+ to A-. But recently I got a 50% (my lowest test score in anything, ever) on a momentum test. I thought momentum was supposed to be a relatively easy topic. And I don't really enjoy the class anymore, but that might be because I don't like poor grades. So now I feel like engineering might not be for me. I dunno.

P.S. I'm a high school senior and have been accepted to the Clark school of Engineering at UMD for aerospace.

I’m literally in the exact same situation as you, and I wouldn’t worry. (High school senior, in Physics C, accepted to UMD for Aerospace)

Everyone has a bad day whether it stems from lack of preparation or simply a topic that takes more time to grasp. The unit I struggled with the most was Forces and Motion II (aka friction, air resistance, inclined planes and such) and I got a C+ on that test because I had breezed through everything else and had assumed that section would be easy too.

When the midterm came around, I buckled down, discovered where my deficiencies were and I corrected them. Don’t let one bad grade define your career path unless you truly feel you are mentally incapable of ever grasping the concept. Just try your absolute best (I know it’s hard, I’ve got major senioritis after getting into schools) and I’m sure you’ll do well.

I guess studying would be the first step. I’ve never been a studier. I’ve never done anything outside of class other than assigned work. I guess I need to stop expecting to just grasp everything instantly. Man, it was nice when it worked that way though…lol.

Thanks man, and good luck in Physics C. Apparently rotation is usually one of the hardest things…and that’s what we’re starting now. Woo

And yeah, senioritis sucks. I’m pretty sure I’ve had it my whole life. Luckily I’ve gotten away with it haha

You gonna go to UMD?

Trust me man, I know exactly what you’re talking about. Everything comes easy to you for as long as you can remember, and then all of a sudden, something comes up and smacks you in the face. I never studied prior to my classes this year, so it’s been an eye opening experience to actually have to teach myself how to study.

As for where I’m attending, I really have no idea at this point. I’ve been accepted to three schools and deferred from two thusfar, with two more decisions from schools I haven’t heard from on the way. I visited UMD last April and really liked the campus and the general feel of the place, but I’ll definitely need to visit it again before I can think about making it my number one choice.
