i am currently a student at SMC and have GPA of 3.74 hoping to raise it to 3.82, and i will be completing all the requirements and IGETC for UCLA and USC. i really want to get into USC biz. But i have gotten "C" on one of my required courses during my first semester, when i've been unsure about where to transfer to. SMC major sheets for transfer for USC states, "Admission to the University of Southern California School of Business Administration is competitive; students with an overall GPA of 3.0 and grades of "B" or better in the courses required for admission will have an advantage in the admissions review process." So, what is the weight of the disadvantage of "C" on one of my required courses?? anyone know?

USC is very competitive in the admission process, USC Marshall school of biz is even more competitive. The "C" in the required course will hurt your chances of admission to Marshall but it will not automatically get you denied. The best thing you can do is just keep doing your best and keep that GPA up. And if USC is the school you want to go to maybe apply as a diffrent major that is not as competitive and then when you get accepted to USC apply to Marshall for business. I have several friends that are doing the same thing.

And this is in the wrong forum you will get better responses in the general transfer forum. Good Luck!

I got into Marshall with a C+ in acct 1 and never took acct 2.

oh and, this forum is a UC transfer forum, not USC.

thank you for the replies!
i guess i might consider changing my major and apply to marshall after i get in...

by the way worriedsenior, do you mind being more specific on your stats when you got admitted? and for which yr?

you may want to be more specific on what class you received a C in. If you get a C in calc or writing, thats much worse than getting a C in acct.

i got a C in Econ 1...For ACC 1, ACC2, ENG2, Econ2, i got an A.
Eng 1, B.

oh, and i want to appologize to anyone who got disguised with my posting in wrong forum. i have created a new one in general transfers, so if you are so nice to be helpful, please post some replies there.

i wouldn't worry about it... especially since you aced econ 2. just keep that gpa up and get an A in calc and you'll be golden.

good luck!

thank you, moss! do you think my chances of admission is descent enough?
Because if it's risky, i would rather change my major and apply...
