C Junior year?!

My final grades for Junior year just came in and I got a C in Honors Chemistry, so I am obviously freaking out. I am getting a recommendation from the teacher though because she knows what a hard worker I am. How much is this going to hurt me for top LACs like Colgate, Hamilton, Bowdoin, Dickinson and Bates?

Thanks!

As long as the rest of your app is strong and your other grades are good, the C can be overlooked for the most part from the schools you’re looking at.

I’m curious about why you want a rec from a teacher who gave you a C. Surely other teachers know what a hard worker you are too - and can say that you are an excellent student as well.

@M’s Mom- I spent a substantial amount of time with her after school for the majority of the year and I feel like she knows me better than my other teachers, apart from the teacher who is writing my other recommendation.

Okay - just make sure that the rec says more about you than that you are a hard worker. That’s not an especially unique characteristic, and by itself, is not all that flattering.
