c/o 2014 Gates Millenium Finalists and Scholars

I applied for GMSP but haven’t received any notification yet…Hispanic female from Houston, TX. Does this mean I wasn’t selected as a finalist?

@PaolaPenguin95, you can check your status by logging in online. Under “Package Status” it should say either Non-Select or Finalist.

Congrats on your Rensselaer full ride!!!

Finalist ~ Michigan ~ Majoring in Chemistry (Pharmacy D) Haven’t selected university yet!

University of Michigan if I receive this scholarship, and I want to major in Computer Science.

I’m so proud of us!!

Hello Everyone!
Gates finalist from Pharr, Texas!!

I received my finalist e-mail on the 6th and immediately began to submit everything on the 7th, eventually completing everything in no time.
My issue is that when I call the organization, they say they only received 2 out of 5 docs, but when I check on-line, it says they received all of them. Anyone else have that issue?

Also, on-line it shows that my school profile was accidently submitted twice, so they have 6 docs. Does anyone think this will affect my chances of winning the scholarship?

Anyone know of past scholars with same issues?

Any information would be helpful!
Please, and thank you!

Finalist from Reno, Nevada

Miggygarza96 The same is happening to me!

I just called, and they say they have all of my documents (5 out of 5). I submitted mine on Monday, March 10th. Online, does it say that all of your documents have been reviewed. That may be what is holding you up.

I called and they said that all of mine have been received, but online it doesn’t say they’ve been reviewed. Do yours say that?

Finalist from Los Angeles, CA!

Question: Is the final screening more merit based or financial need based?
My grades or gpa are pretty average (3.4) compared to the gpa’s of GM winners.
However, my financial need is really great so I’m hoping that will kind of forgive my really low gpa?
Any thoughts?

@emjkitty I believe they want to verify that you were honest when you submitted your grades on your application. One of the main things they’re looking for is financial aid. They have to be sure that you actually qualify for the Pell grant. You might want to try the other thread I referenced before. There is a mom on their that has been through this process before. Good luck! Let me know if you need anything!

@miggygarza96 All of mine say they have been reviewed. Try contacting your ethnic group’s scholarship fund along with GMSP. Keep me posted on your process!! :)

@rhythmandbible thank you for your response! I’m crossing my fingers and praying that my financial aid will give me the edge on this. I’ll definitely check out the thread.

You’re welcome!

I know the date is coming near… but I’m just going to post my stats here x) so nervous!

UW 3.97

Pell Grant $5,750
Family Income Bracket $20,000

Hey everyone I’m a finalist from Nampa, Idaho!! Are there any other finalists from ID on here?

Is anyone else having problems with their info being verified? All my information has the Y except for my acceptance letter. I’m getting a little worried

@NickFromThe208, there was another girl who was experiencing issues with all of her documents. Have you called your ethnic group’s scholarship or the GMSP? I would definitely do that. I would hate for you to get disqualified for a simple error. You’ve come tooooo far!! :)
