CA Resident Retiring out of State - Instate Tuition

Title tells it all. One kid in UC now soon to be two.

But I plan to retire OOS in a few years.

Do the kids still get in state tuition? Both will be under 25.

They do. If they start in state, they stay in state. I have several friends who’ve relocated after the kids were in college.

See Page 15 of this document and yes they will continue to receive in-state UC tuition rates if you move OOS.

Also, if they graduate high school in California after three years of attendance in California, and are not on a non-immigrant visa, they are eligible for AB540 provisions even if they lose California residency by the usual definition (e.g. not maintaining continuous enrollment at one campus since starting as a California resident).

I am curious as well! He’s in several forums and groups with many invested onlookers. I think it was between SLO and UCSC?
