Caclulus AB; Where are you at?

Yet another where are you at post.

I gave up on BC, cuz I had much other things to do and now aim to finish off calculus AB (self studying).

Where are you guys at?

And can someone also give me some advices in persuading my school to let me take calculus AB? I'll be transferring school next month and I know its onli like around 2 and months away from the AP exam by the time I transfer.
And being a sophmore works as a disadvantage for me... But I realli dun want to waste my time in junior year taking calculus BC when I've already covered the majority of the topics.

In my current school, I've just completed pre-calc and started some work on differentiation/integration (up to application of differentiation and finding the area under the graph). Do you think its a good idea to get a recommendation from the teacher?

I kinda regressed. The main intention is where are you at for calc AB :D
But if you have any experience in managing to persuade your councellors or teachers to let u take AP's, plz help me out!

Integrals .

can u also post when ur class is expecting to finish the course?

i'm not in calc, but I know the classs is expecting to finnish 2 weeks before the test date, than it's review time for 2 weeks.

I think the class at my school is on Riemann Sums

We are on application of integrals specifically volumes and what not.
If your grades are solid (A/B) then get a teacher rec. Since my school only offers 6 APs I am self-studying 3 so that's an option.
My class is going to finish major stuff this quarter and spend the next reviewing for the exam

I agree about the teacher rec thingy. As long as you're a good student, you're pretty much set.

We just started Integration, area under the curve. We're expected to have 2-3 wks of review. in another post like this, my class was way behind, but it seems most are on integrals

just finished integrals having midterm later this week

what book do you guys use?

It's a big blue book. With the words "graphical, numerical, algebraical" i believe. And numbers as 'decorations' on the cover

my school uses a book with the front cover as a body of water close-up with ripples through it, like someone threw a rock in the water

we use Single Variable Calculus by Stewart

While we're on the subject, I'm thinking of self-studying the Calc AB/BC exam and was wondering how long i should plan to study on it / how much material is on it?

I've already taken the college prep course (aced it), i'm taking the Physics C exam as well, and i did pretty well on the IIC thing (don't know if this matters...).

I just hope i haven't waited too long to start it, so i didn't want to get started on it only to find out i can't get through all the material...

Ya. Math is my strongest subject and within the accelerated class, the teacher allowed me to further accelerate within that group. So I'm self studynig the calc stuff during class. I'll ask my teacher to include the info about what I've covered then... I hope the school allows me to take it. I asked the councellor and she said its pretty rare for sophmoers to even take AP's but I'll give it a try.

If most of you are at integrals and its application, I think I should be able to catch up pretty quickly :D

the word's digressed.

Anyways, we are on integration by parts. did area and rotations last week.

Calculus of a Single Variable Chapter 6 Applications of Integrals.

calculus: transcendental functions

finished with the curriculum.
i take the course, but i self-studied. I'm gonna go over the stuff for the next 3 months.

integrals and the area as a limit
