Are Doolies required to attend any formal dining in/out events duringthe year. If it is a social dance do female cadets wear uniforms or gowns?

one dining in. It's the AF birthday banquet. Girls will have to wear uniform as a 4 degree. no exceptions.

what about after 4th degree year?

every class (i beleive, i know 2-4 digs) have one mandatory dance. after 4 dig year girls may wear dresses as far as i kno. The big one is ring dance at the end of 2 dig year: was once rated 2nd best ball to be invited to, 2nd only to the presidential ball

oh, and as far as fun or not, its up to you. i kno ppl who hated it cause they stood around. i personally just danced and i had a blast. everyone has to be there anyway, and lots of ppl look crazy dancing, so its all up to u.

I got a chance to hang out with a couple of people from the dance club during Orientation. THAT'S the kind of dancing I want to do at those dances. That stuff is really fun.

The Air Force's birthday is Sept 18th, right? So, I'm guessing that the banquet is sometime in mid-September, correct? Sorry if I got my historical dates mixed up.

yeah, I was wondering, are we allowed to join the swing club if we don't know how to swing? lol, it just looks like so much fun.

Wow, I just realized that this year will be the 60th anniversary of the Air Force. Cool. Does anyone know if anything special will happen?

When I was doing some stuff with some of the swing club people (sorry, I meant swing club in the other post), I was told that if I didn't know how to dance, I'd learn (which I did). They told me that I could join the swing club after Recognition. Did you do some stuff with them during Orientation, Bluemer?

As far as I know, there isn't any reason you can't join before Recognition...I would at least try if you're interested.

Echo G4C, I think I remember them inviting 4 digs, just had to wear PC gear.

Ok, maybe I misunderstood. I'd be happy if they'd let me join before Recognition. They weren't really sure when I asked them, so maybe I can join before Recognition. Thanks, G4C and hornetguy.

I know this is outside the topic, but my mom asked me to say hi to hornetguy and G4C, and to tell you guys thanks again for meeting us for dinner at Orientation. She also said it was fun driving you guys back to the Hill.

I'm guessing 4 degrees cant bring guests?

No, I think they can, but they have to leave by a certain time and they can't come into the Cadet Area.

Yes they can. Plenty brought girlfriends/boyfriends/just friends.

some people from around the area just brought a lot of friends so they're usafa friends could have "dates". some even had triple S's in order to go to dinner before hand

Unless something changed this year, females CANNOT wear civilian dresses to any mandatory USAFA dances, including Ring Dance.

as far as the dances go, the 3-dig dance they had to go to this year, any upperclassmen who went were permitted to wear civies. but that is the only dance with civies. i stand corrected with ring dance. there, any cadet, no matter the year, is in mess dress.

Oh good. I mean, what girl in her right mind would even think about wanting to wear something other than one of those hot Air Force uniforms to a special occasion? ha.... ha....

How often does the Academy hold dances? I think a cadet told me they occurred pretty frequently at Arnold Hall, but I can't remember.
