i know caffeine wakes up kinda well.
however, i've heard from some of my friends that they loose concentration on tests when they drink coffee or whatever w/ caffeine.

does caffeine make you guys loose concentration?

Caffeine is supposed to increase brain function by 30% from what I've read. That seams high to me, but its supposed to increase you for awhile. Its a personal thing. Take the pills and see... I hear crack is a good substitute.

:-) My best practice tests have all been with lots of Diet Coke. My worst ones have all been with 3 cans of Red Bull. Not sure what to make of that.

For the first time yesterday, I drank 2 cups of coffee to keep me awake while studying for my test. So..we'll see how I did on the test today later. I was totally fuctioning on coffee, because I only had 3 hours of sleep.

If you don't drink coffee or other caffeinated drinks, don't start on SAturday. Everybody reacts differently. When I drink more than about a cup, I get shaky and nervous...bad combo for tests.

On the other hand, if you have a cup of java every morning, don't stop for the test.

Also, from what I've read, electrolytes can help increase brain function in the short term. Maybe try food and drink with electrolytes. Bananas have a lot of potassium, for example. Powerade or Gatorade type drinks replenish electrolytes, too.

I try to get a lot of caffiene daily to help with my ADD. I find that it helps relax me and increase my attention span so that I am not thinking about 5 million different things at once. I usually have the opposite reaction to most chemicals as other people do (Nyquil kept me up forever!). But, I definitley agree with the others do not try caffiene right before the test if you've never had it because you don't know how you will react to it!

I get a starbucks in the morning before the SAT.
Also, drive to the SAT instead of getting a rid, it starts your brain functioning and wakes you up. Also, get some sugar gum to chew on.
I think I am also gonna buy a snickerdoodle from Starbucks and put it in my sweatshrt pocket so I can get a quick bite if I need it, really helps keep you going. Not good to test if you are hungry or full, but in the middle.
