I know how much it costs to eat at the all you can eat
locations but I was wondering what it costs to eat at
other locations that take meal points...also what kinds of
foods are avaliable at these locations????

Check this out:

http://caldining.berkeley.edu/

thanks for the site but I still can't find the info that I am
curious about. So I'll make my question more specific.
How much does sandwhiches cost at Cal in points?

The caldining site says it. Go to the campus restaurants link and click on the menu.

This link breaks down the points more specifically:

it's like 4.49 for a chicken panini at ramona's. it's pretty delicious.

Thanks karabear1 and phroz3n for the input~

And, "TropicalTriceps?" Why don't you figure out the exact site
that tells you the info that I am asking for?
I already cheked out the site but couldn't find it.
The site only tells you WHAT they have not WHAT they CHARGE!
If you are so smart, then why don't you FIND IT instead of
stating the obvious?

krnbap617, calm down. :)

This is the site he was talking about: http://caldining.berkeley.edu/campus_restaurants.html

Unfortunately they don't list the prices, but they do have menus which was part of your original question. I'll give you an idea of what some popular items might cost:

GBC:
Bear Muffin (biscuit w/ ham/egg/sausage): around 3 points
Pastries: around 2 points
Sandwich: around 5 points
Hamburger/Chicken Strips/Buffalo Wings: around 4 points
Soda/water: around 1.5 points
Fruit: .75 points for 1 piece
Snacks/chips: around 2 points

Ramona's:

Panini Sandwiches: 5-7 points, depending on what you put on there
Chicken Rice Bowl: 4-5 points
Soups: I think 3-4 points for a bowl
Snacks/drinks: same as GBC

Hopes this helps.

What, does our precious krnbap need everything spelled out for her? We aren't here to spoon-feed incompetent minds. The site has been given to you already. Look up **** for yourself. I hope for the sake of Berkeley's rep that you are lazy rather than stupid.

rather "blunt" way to put it Tropical Triceps, but very true... this person (and a few others) will get swallowed whole by Berk if they don't learn to figure it out on their own.

In krnbap617's defense, the website didn't list any prices, which is a pretty glaring oversight on Berkeley's part (although not exactly surprising).

Also in krnbap617's defense, Tropical Triceps was very rude to him/her in another thread and that is probably why krnbap617 is so angry. There is no reason to resort to personal attacks just because someone has a question.

Aren't we all here to find out more information? Why all the anger?

There are prices listed covering some basic items, which is enough to give one a good sense of the ranges. It takes no more than a few minutes to browse through a site to find what you need.

Direct criticism helps to avoid all the useless formalities. If you expect to have your hand held in berkeley you will FAIL, even if you achieve stellar grades. Time to grow up.

Vic: Specific prices of all items sold areound campus are most likely left off the dining website because they change as prices go up, items are removed from menus and new items brought in... it seems too time consuming and not very cost effective to put specific prices on the website.

I am so sorry for lashing back at you, Tropical Triceps...
but how do you know that I am a "her"? How do you know that I am not a
"he?" Well, enough of this useless nonesense. Thanks for the input about
the posibility of "failing." I know for a fact that berkeley is the kind of
campus where you have to figure things out for yourself...but
being from a "small" sized high school...I guess I still have some
growing up to do... I apologize...

And everyone else, thanks for the input too...I really do appreciate it.
I just asked the question out of curiosity...sorry...

If the Cal Dining website has a menu with a listing of items, the least it can do is put prices next to them. The prices of the items don't change throughout a school year, so the most they would have to do is update it annually, which, if what you claim is correct and they update items, they do anyway. They have all the prices right there. How long does it take to put in a few numbers? I see this as just laziness on Cal Dining's part.

First of all, put yourself in an incoming freshman's shoes. How the heck would you know to find GBC prices by looking at the Foothill late-night menu? I bet most freshmen don't even know about Foothill's late-night.

Second of all, the menus for late-night and on-campus restaurants are quite different. You see a number of 10+ point items like steak plate, rack of ribs, whole pizza, at Foothill late-night. Nothing costs nearly that much at the GBC or Ramona's. There are also no prices for items like coffee/pastries/chicken bowls/soups/etc. Not to mention inconsistencies like selling buffalo wings for 8 points at late-night and around 4 points at GBC. The fact is, the Cal Dining website lacks pricing information for its on-campus restaurants and that can make it confusing for new students. You should help them out by compensating for that instead of blaming them for not looking hard enough.

Third of all, I'm not sure why you're so hostile to someone who had trouble looking for something and wanted help. I thought that was what this forum is all about...helping new/prospective students by showing them where to look. If everyone can magically "figure everything out by themselves", we wouldn't need CC at all. Some people need a little more help than others. If you don't have the patience for that, the least you can do is not come here and start insulting that person. Asking for help is not a sign of immaturity. In fact, NOT asking for help when you need it is a sign of STUPIDITY. So stop trying to scare people with that "grow up" line.

You didn't do anything wrong. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want and we'll try to help you out with it.

Rant and rave all you want... LOL!!!

IMO, prices on the website is not important and not necessary, and obviously it's not that common for college Dining Services to post prices:

http://hospitality.usc.edu/residential/

http://hds.ucsd.edu/diningservices/

you of course are welcome to your own opinion.

UCLA and UCSD don't even have menus for their on-campus restaurants. And with UCLA's 11 and UCSD's 14, who can blame them? Cal dining, on the other hand, boasts a whooping 4 campus restaurants. I mean, if you already have the menu up, how much more effort does it take to enter in a few numbers? You already have them for late-night. You can argue it's not that important, but then again, I don't see students complaining about the DCs putting up their prices. Obviously it's a good thing and something students find useful. Why not just go the whole mile and put up the prices?

By the way, I saw that USC did have menus but no prices. But just because another college is doing something wrong doesn't make it okay for Berkeley to do it. I thought Berkeley students wouldn't be satisfied with lowering their standards to USC's level.
