Alright so I just got one question about cal Grant A and UCSD grant, are they an all or nothing type of grant?
I found a pdf stating the income ceilings for calgrant A, and my family income is way below the ceiling. However my parents have about 50 grand saved in the bank, which is about 7000 below the asset ceiling.
Does this mean I'm going to get a lot less money from Cal grant A? I mean my parents are over 50 years old, and my grandparents are sick, I really don't want to use this money if I don't have to.
Anyone have experience with the Cal Grant given these situations?

Also how does the UCSD grant work? I know my family income qualifies, but I don't know how the asset is going to affect it.

I was told on financial aid forums that my parents' old age and their low income allows assets to be practically ignored for the pell grant, are there similar rulings for the CAL grants? Anyone?
