Congrats to everyone that got into Cal! I was wondering if a few of you could help me with my decision. If I wanted to enter pre-med, what school would be best to do so? Thanks.

I can’t really say anything for UCLA because I don’t go there, but I’m a first year at Cal right now and the classes that pre-med kids need are quite challenging. I never took AP Chem and I took Chem 1A in the fall and I didn’t even know half the stuff they were teaching. If you study hard and have an AP background in the sciences, I’d say, go for Cal. The classes are as challenging as they say, but you’ll have a wonderful time being challenged.

Do you think you struggled a lot in Chem 1A and in general? My school did not provide that many AP classes, so my AP background is very weak.

I, too, am wondering about how the “pre-med” classes are at Cal. From what I’ve heard so far, a lot of the courses are really challenging and extremely competitive (especially due to the grading curves and huge class sizes). One of the people who used to go to my school is going to Cal now as a Public Health major, and she says that the grading curves – as sucky as they may be – at least help with individual tests. Otherwise, she LOVES it there.
