has anyone with a communications or graphic design major heard back from cal poly yet? I’m starting to worry a bit because I check bronco direct and it just says “Application received” and nothing more

I was admitted for graphic communications about two weeks ago!

^^lesea18…are you coming off the waitlist? or just accepted?

@m4ttscott, “I’m starting to worry a bit because I check bronco direct and it just says “Application received” and nothing more”

Are you talking about Cal Poly Pomona?

@m4ttscott I was admitted into graphic communications for cal poly slo a couple of weeks ago

I’ve applied to Cal Poly Pomona under Communication - Public Relations & Org Communications and my alternate major was Graphic Design, but I’ve heard absolutely nothing back. Should I try to contact them if people with my same major have already been admitted?

@m4ttscott

I think you are in the wrong thread. This is Cal Poly SLO, not Pomona. They are separate universities.

hey guys i was waitlisted, but i sent them an email saying that cal poly is my 1st choice… will that help me?

@blindmonkey oh gosh, Google and iPhone’s vagueness really screwed me over. Thanks for pointing that out, I just saw some cal poly Pomona talk on here too so assumed it was also on that cal poly too. Thanks!

@m4ttscott

No problem, good luck to you ! Hope you get in to CPP

Freshman admissions are crazy this year. I know so many superstar kids who were denied admission, and, for some, it was their first choice of schools!

My daughter (NOT engineering and who had CP as a “safety”) was not admitted, but she got into Berkeley, several other UC’s, U Michigan etc… go figure.

Accepted OOS for BME
3.4 GPA
32 ACT

@mustangirl yeah I got accepted in February!

Hi guys just thought Id revive this thread for those people who were waitlisted… Anyone hear anything from Poly yet? I know for freshman Poly post final decisions by May 15th and for transfers July 15th. I’m just wondering if anyone has heard anything new?

Son heard today he did not get into Biomedical Engineering. 4.2 GPA, 2010 SAT, in state.
A friend of his called admissions a month ago to find out why he got rejected (he had higher stats than my son) Admissions told him that they did a lottery of the top applicants this year for BE. What a crazy, unprofessional way to choose students. It is time to look at more than GPA and test scores Cal Poly!

Cal Poly had previously requested additional funds from the state to implement a holistic applicant review process that includes an admission essay.

The request was denied due to the financial crisis in California. So Cal Poly is stuck with what it has. Also, if SLO were to implement an admission essay requirement, it will be the only CSU that has it. So you can imagine it will create a bit of chaos given all the CSU share a common application platform.

But a lottery of top applicants? I hope that’s not true…best GPA/scores/AP classes should get in first, not luck of the draw. Wow. OsakaDad…any insight?

Which major? Trying to determine my S oos chances fro next year for Computer Science. Please post stats.

My daughter, an out of state Computer Science major got accepted in Late Feb with

Weighted GPA. 4.13. Unweighted 4.0
SAT 1510 out of 1600
SAT. 2180 out of 2400

She turned down Cornell, UIUC, USC, Johns Hopkins, CO Sch of Mines, Drexel, Rutgers and she loves CalPoly.
