I have no idea where to go for mechanical engineering. Which one is better for my major? I just got back from visiting them and i love them both. Help guys!

cal poly pomona or slo, if its CPP then I would go with UCSB.

definitely cal poly slo ... if that's the poly you are talking about

either campus of cal poly is outstanding for engineering.
i have been at both schools and both have very modern and large engr campuses and great facilities.
if you want college town take SLO. if you want city take pomona.

UCSB is better in the humanities. save it for grad school.

keep in mind 1/3 to 1/2 of all people who start as engineers decide they don't want to be engineers after all. So you should factor in where you would want to go to school should this happen to you.

As for the 2 schools, "better" is a word you can chase forever. Each is a fine school that produces good ME's. I would't worry so much about which has the better major and pick the school that you think fits you better.

UCSB's engineering is ranked high in universities that grant doctoral degrees. It's even ranked higher than UCI and UC Davis. Cal Poly SLO 's engineering is rank within the top 10 which may sound great BUT it isn't ranked in comparison with other big universities like Berkeley, MIT, Caltech...etc. Check out the US News ranking.

So if I were you I'd pick UCSB!

Its Cal Poly SLO
