The 2017 U.S. News College Rankings are out and Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Engineering is ranked 11th among the nearly 200 non-doctorate-granting universities nationwide besting privates like: Embry-Riddle, Kettering, Lafayette, Loyola Marymount, Smith College, Swarthmore College, University of San Diego, Valparaiso, Gonzaga, Trinity University among others. Just showing how this highly-underrated university is an increasingly attractive option for solid students in engineering.
I am convinced that, as time continues, it will only continue to grow in national recognition as one of the best. Not only is CPP highly esteemed for its engineering program, it is affordable. Also, the networking opportunities are endless with its strong alumni base. All of these factors will help CPP continue to attract top-tier students, thus adding to its brand while producing high quality engineers.
Hopefully the college of engineering’s reputation lifts the other colleges as well. It’s unbelievable that while CPP engineering students have similar GPAs and SATs stats as UC Davis/Irvine/SB, the College of Education and Integrative Studies have entering classes with similar GPAs and SATs as colleges like CSU San Bernardino. I mean, when you have “CAL POLY” in your university name, maintaining a reputation is an absolute must for ALL colleges.
I agree and hope that this will raise the bar for other colleges in the school as well. If other colleges within CPP can improve their student talent base, this would elevate the school as a whole. The only thing left after that is for CPP to go D1 athletics and add a football team (along with other sports). I think that would increase school pride and community involvement.
