CPP offers a degree in environmental design and not Architecture like CPSLO. Is a degree in environmental design the same as a degree in Architecture?
Definitely not. There is not as much technical knowledge/training involved in an environmental design degree. It would become much more difficult to become licensed as an architect ALTHOUGH you could do a masters degree in architecture after a different undergraduate degree!
@philbegas Thanks for the info.
Also, CPP has a degree in BArch, I’m confused why you’re saying they don’t
Oddly, enough CPP’s College of Environmental Design, doesn’t actually offer a degree in Environmental Design. Instead it administers 5 departments – Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Art, and Regenerative Studies. 4 of these departments offer undergraduate degrees, including, as @philbegas points out the same Bachelor of Architecture degree that is found at CPSLO.
The BArch is a 5.0 year professional degree that focuses fairly narrowly on architecture.
If you’re thinking of getting an undergraduate degree from one of the other departments, you could still get admitted to a Master of Architecture at CPP or any other school (as long as you fulfill the admissions requirements). The MArch takes from 2.0 to 3.5 years depending on the program and your undergraduate degree.
If you’re specifically interested in a Bachelor of Environmental Design (B.Envd) you could look at Colorado Boulder or Texas A&M (plus a few others).
