Cal Poly Pomona CE transfer student average acceptance GPA?

im majoring in civil engineering and i'm interested in cal poly pomona, but my parents keep insisting ucla.
my current gpa is 3.339, and im gonna raise to 3.5 by end of spring 10', possibly above 3.6

what are my chances of being accepted in both schools?
i know that ucla is really competitive, but apparently cal poly pomona has an impacted program for civil engineers which makes it competitive to enter.

i guess my question is mainly....what was the average acceptance for civil engineers last year for both schools? (if u were accepted in either school as CE, what was your gpa?)
i emailed pomona for the info, but they keep telling me that the min gpa is 3.00, which doesn't answer my question.

should i apply to other schools? other than the two....i don't wanna waste my money on applyin to colleges im not gonna consider to attend

Here are the stats for the engineering department.

Average HS GPA: 3.44
Average SAT: 1121

These are the averages for the entire engineering department which includes weaker programs in engineering technology. The Civil Engineering department is impacted and the stats should be higher than these. I would suspect in the 3.6 GPA and 1200 SATs. Hope this helps. Cal Poly is well regarded in CE, but I don’t know how it compares with UCLA. The main difference being that UCLA is a research university and the profs may be too busy with their own endeavors and leave the teaching to TAs.
