I got waitlisted for uci, ucd, and cal poly pomona for chemical engineering.
I haven’t heard from ucd yet and just recently got off the waitlist for cal poly pomona.
Now i cant make a decision… should i go to cal poly or community college and do tag because i definitely want to transfer to a uc.
It would be harder for me to transfer from cal poly than community, since community colleges get first priority. However, tag would give me automatic admission into chemical engineering.
Please help me make a decision to whether i should go to cal poly or community by 5/12. If i get off the waitlist for uci, im definitely going, but im worried that i wont get in due to my stats. Hopefully, uci releases decisions today.
SAT/ACT: 1600/24
UC GPA: 4.00
If you definitely know you want to graduate from a UC, CC is the only viable option open to you. Understand going in though that TAG is no slam dunk. You will need to take exactly the right courses, and the list may be different for each UC. Some CCs are packed and students find it difficult to get classes they need - others aren’t. You’ll need to maintain a high GPA (3.4) in some challenging courses. You should also note, the threshold and course lists change.
Seriously, understand It is quite possible, you won’t qualify to TAG to your preferred UC after 2 years.
TAG is a great program and facilitates thousands of UC transfers every year but, many students take longer than 2 years to prepare. Many others can’t meet the GPA threshold so, have to settle for a CSU after-all.
I’d encourage you to sign up with CPP, get housing locked down and start to get psyched about going to school there. Stick with the waitlists, at UCI and UCD, maybe they’ll pan out.
Good luck
